Servicing your VW Bay Window bus can see like a bit of chore in the excitement of the new spring season all ready upon us. Often there seems too much to do in terms of Volkswagen Camper meets, events and the inevitable road tips that are planned for the summer, to think about getting ones hands dirty, serving your cherished Volkswagon bus. Some or even most of us will take our cherished bus to a non Volkswagen garage to have it serviced, get charged through the nose for what's essentially no more than a regular car service. Even Volkswagen appointed garages will only undertake a standard vehicle service and not consider the unique requirements of a 30+ year old air-cooled Volkswagen Bus.



Connect the manifold gauge set as discussed above. Connect the yellow hose to the can tap valve and windshield repair seat (turn clockwise) the valve. Close the blue gauge on the manifold gauge set. Open the valve on the can tap valve. Slowly open the valve on the blue or "low-side" gauge and let the refrigerant flow from the refrigerant can into the system until you see a reading of 60psi on the "low-side" gauge. TIP: Placing the refrigerant can in a pan of hot water will allow the vapor refrigerant to enter the A/C system quicker. WARNING: Do not invert the refrigerant can. Doing so will allow liquid refrigerant to enter the system resulting in a ruined compressor.

Automobiles are made so that a cracked windshield can be replaced; they are not made to be repaired. To my knowledge, manufacturers do not recommend or promote repairing windshields they recommend replacing them. A windshield is a structural part of the body and is in place for safety reasons. You shouldn't mess with the overall safety of the car by repairing a glass that is vital to safety during a rollover or accident.

There are many different repair kits that can be used for repairing your windshield. One excellent windshield repair kit is the Fix-A-Windshield, Do-It-Yourself Repair Kit. It comes at a very affordable price of $10 and contains all the necessary tools that you will need for repairing cracks in your windshield. This includes the clear resin bottle, and an air suction tool that removes air in between the break of the crack.

If you do have scratches on fix auto glass repair the surface it may be better to have headlight restoration specialist handle it but some people have successfully used an electric sander to gently smooth away some superficial scratches. This technique can cause more damage than intended if you aren't careful and is not suggested for novices.

Our home, like many, is in a constant state of repair and could always benefit from a minor remodel or home renovation. I can think of many things that need to be done right now. The windshield of your vehicle is meant to protect you and your passengers from any debris on the road that could potentially enter your car. If your vehicles windshield is cracked or chipped it is weaken as the days go by and will not be as much as a protection as it could be harm. That one little crack could shatter with the smallest contact with debris and send glass shooting into your car. It is important that you get your windshield repaired as soon as you can to avoid replacement and worse injury to passengers and yourself. Some auto body shops will even come to you to fix this repair.
